I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 LTS.
My sister was watching a video on my laptop and when she looked down, the screen had split into four identical desktop screens. I really don't know what's going on here. Would updating or rebooting help?

I can's see any screenshot on your post, but sounds like you have just accidentally clicked the button to show all workspaces, or perhaps pressed the Super+W shortcut to do that...

Just press Super+W again, or click any of the workspaces. :)

Yeah, I assumed that as well - except that when I do something in one window, the exact motion is mirrored in all others. That's not separate workspaces, is it?

Also, I don't mind if I have to reconfigure something or re-install Ubuntu. I'm mainly worried about whether this is a hardware or software problem.
I appreciate the help, so thanks.
