View Full Version : where is terminal on Android phones ..?

As you know Android is Linux and Linux' strength is its command line . But I just cant find terminal in my Samsung Galaxy phone .

So how can I access terminal and will it allow me to root

and any useful terminal commands ..?

There are loads of terminal emulators in the Android Market.
As to your second question, no, you have to root your phone if you want to be root.

No terminals root. You have to find your own way for your phone on google.

I use Terminal IDE, it is pretty good for hacking purposes.

As you know Android is Linux

Android is a Linux kernel, plus some basic GNU utilities, plus a completely new userspace layer on top. It doesn't use GTK, Xorg, Gnome etc so don't expect it to be able to run "Linux applications" or even Linux command-line tools. All programs running on Android need to be written for Android because it's basically completely different to your regular Linux distros.
