Numbers dont lie ;)
Google hit rates...

microsft 2,830,000,000
windows 2,490,000,000
linux 1,510,000,000
XP 879,000,000
unix 497,000,000
vista 392,000,000
crap 88,800,000
invalid statistics 10,700,000

But liers use numbers!

Well, most Windows users would be searching for Windows, not XP, right? And maybe Linux users do more Google searches?

you are correct...but you are missing the point of the post.
the title says "Linux more popular than XP"
in google searches, he has shown that "linux" is more popular than "XP"...and commenting how you can twist numbers and facts.
its lighthearted guys, not worth disecting.

If you want better statistics go to http://www.google.com/trends.

Also, don't forget that to most people "windows" means this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Window), not this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Windows), whereas Linux has only one meaning.

Of course all this only holds true for Google users NOT:

MSN Search, Yahoo, etc, etc.

Unless Google figures into thier statistics all other search engines that exist?
