I boot up ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS Desktop Edition hoping to access the Windows systems in the same computer and those on the network.

I click on Places -> Network. I see Windows Network. I double-click on the Windows Network and I see the workgroup name of the network. I double-click on the workgroup name and I see all the Windows systems including the one on the same computer. I double-click on the one on the same computer and it returns blank. So do all other systems in the same network.

What do I need to do in order to access read and write on the Windows system on the same computer and those on the same network?

I think I managed to read files on the Windows system on the same computer before. Now I can't even do that.

I tried again and I was able to read the local Windows system but not able to write though. I still couldn't access those on the network.
