I'm developing an app in python using gtk+ and glade. I was surprised to find that the glade version on my 12.04 machine doesn't seem to support any gtk+ version earlier than 3.0.
This would be fine, I am happy to work with up-to-date libraries. My problem is that there are no windows binaries for gtk3. So, if I want to write cross-platform software then it seems I can't use the files this version of glade produces.
In earlier versions of glade there was backwards compatibility. Has this been dropped in the current version?
Do I need to drop back to older gtk versions if I want to develop cross-platform apps in python? If so, how do I do it in 12.04?
