View Full Version : [ubuntu] Hard Drive overheats on AC but running super cool on AC

I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit on my HP Pavilion DV6700 and loving it so far. However I just realized that when running on AC the temperature of the hard drive surges past its normal levels (45- 52 degree Celsius) to some pretty hot level (60 degrees). I have to unplug it in order for it to cool down but immediately I plug in the AC cable, the temperature begins to surge again.

In an attempt to address this issue, I installed the Jupiter indicator and set it to 'power saving' and also installed 'laptop_mode tools' and edited "/etc/laptop-mode/laptop-mode.conf" by enabling laptop mode even on AC.

It appears the issue is still yet to resolved. What can I do to make the laptop run on AC like it does on battery? Please help as I'm really worried:(
