Hello!

I would like to access the information (current track, artist and album) which is provided by the music players and displayed in the sound menu at the top (where you can also pause and jump to the next or previous track), from a self-written script or program.

I've searched a lot for this but only found threads about removing a player from that menu or whether it is possible to have a player listed there.
Well, I also found sites explaining how to get your own app to register for the sound menu and I know it has to use MPRIS (Media Player Remote Interfacing Specification) which "aims to provide a common programmatic API for controlling media players" and uses D-Bus, however that didn't really help me finding out how to receive that information instead of sending it. :P

Is that possible?

Thank you! :)
