The user interface from The Minority Report is getting ready to become a reality. Leap Motion (http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/21/leap-motion-3d-motion-and-gesture-control/) looks pretty awesome. It's only going to sell for $69, and it's supposed to be 200x more accurate than the Kinect, or any other motion sensing technology out there. It creates a 4 cubic foot user space, and you'll be able to chain multiple devices together for larger user spaces. They say it will be easily integrated with anything out there with an onboard computer.

Hopefully we'll see support for Linux.

It's great to see someone is finally doing this right!!

I'm sure the devs know how important Linux support is--they mentioned it on their page, which is a good sign. Still, I wonder if there's a good way to let them know Linux users would appreciate support. Maybe it would expedite the process. Any ideas?

Heh... No thanks. And anyone who doesn't know who Alan Sheppard is, much less Neil Armstrong, is an idiot.

It sure seems like the LEAP could upset the digitzer market, among others.

I had no idea who Alan Sheppard is until I just looked him up now.

Very few people would. Bit of a harsh call from MisterGaribaldi. I think if you asked ordinary people on the street to name two American astronauts the answer you'd get would be:

"Neil Armstrong"
"Er......."

Never mind the space program link. The device is amazing.

https://live.leapmotion.com/ Especially with linux on the agenda.

The video is very "Minority Report". http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2147940/Leap-Motions-Leap-eliminates-need-keyboard-mouse-advance-motion-control-technology.html

This is a good example of why it's important to have a good, informative title. Nobody cared about my thread yesterday on this. :)
