Is it necessary to install the software Updates? I mean all the time, every time i start Ubuntu? I don't really know what most of those mean:KS

Thanks in advance.

No, this isn't windows. ;) But it is recommended to install software updates every now and again. I generally check every other week.

Update manager will tell you if you want to know what a package does. Click on the update, and look down at the bottom of the window, there's a couple of lines explaining what it does.

Not necessary but do remember updates are generally released to correct problems in the program or to patch security problems. You do not have to install them, but I do.

Security updates are quite important, because as the name suggests, they improve the security of Ubuntu and the software you have installed. If the notifications are bothering you, you can change the setting and configure how often you want to be notified of updates. In the case of security updates, you can even set it to download and install automatically.
