just curious: are there any projecteuler.net (https://projecteuler.net/) aficionados here?

My head hurt just thinking about math..

I am and I must admit I am not very good at many of them. But as you know, we are not supposed to discuss the problems nor post a solution!

correct. and is not what i had in mind.

I hate maths. But I once signed up there for a weekend and I believe I have solved 17(?) of the easier problems.

I've found out about it a few years ago and solved 62 problems, mostly in Python and Mathematica - really can't be bothered using programming languages without built-in arbitrary precision arithmetic for mathematical problems. I forgot it even existed (and my account details, had to do password recovery), thanks for the reminder!

^Love the name :D

I don't think arbitrary-precision arithmetic is relevant here. You can just as easily use C, C++ or Java instead of Python or Ruby and you will get the same results. Are there any problems for which this is not true? Please point them out.

I might take a look at this. I am a professional programmer, but I have not worked on traditional maths problems since college. Interesting...

I have done the first 20-something problems a while ago to see what all the hype was about. Then I got bored, they're all pretty trivial. Maybe someone can tell me if it gets more interesting after a while?

oh, don't worry, it gets more demanding!

I didn't say "demanding", I said "interesting". Very different.

you also said "bored" and "trivial"... :p i have not advanced that far but i've learned several things. i'd say yes, it gets more interesting.
