Hi,

I'm a musician, usually performing as a beatboxer. Recently I've been working on something pretty different.

I've just released the first public video from my new live set. It's online here: http://www.vidwarren.com/freestyle-one-man-band/

It's all improvised and shot in one take. Full equipment spec is in the description on Youtube.

Cheers,

Vid Warren

Well, then.

That's certainly...

I mean, you really...

Well. Good luck with that, or something.

So, I assume you know what rudiments are, as far as drumming technique go that is one of the keys. There are only 86 of them, hehe that will keep you busy well for the rest of your life really.

Alan Dawson is well known in this area.

As a Jazz musician, and really many types of genres, and being a multi-instrumentalist I would say keep practising. Don't hesitate on using a metronome, and spending large amounts of time with it. Omar Hakim former drummer for weather report and others has shown grooving with this is possible.

Here is one of my favourite drummers, the only musician to ever audition for Frank Zappa, may he RIP, and play the book perfectly.

Keep going, it takes a enormous amount of time to be a master player. ;)

You have a lot of talent. Don't give up on your beatboxing act. You're especially good at that. I loved the flute beatboxing.

@wilee-nilee, Yes I do practise rudiments. I've got some cool exercises for integrating them into other exercises if you're interested?

Nice clips, the last video was my favourite by far. The 'session' drummers, particularly that style of presentation (Dave Weckl, Jojo Mayer, etc.) are cool but they tend to work better for me on Youtube than in my mp3 player if you know what I mean. I like players like Joe Morello and Bernard Purdie.

@forrestcupp, Thanks. Don't worry, it's going to be part of the new set.

It's still early days yet.
