I know you folks are sick of hearing about un-necessary changes.........
but probably not as Sick as I am of having to put up with them,,,,,,,,,,
but the latest changes to the Orange Headers/Colors isn't at all pleasing.
If you had to change why not use the Brown color from Ubuntu 7.04
which wouldn't be such a contrast. I know it wouldn't match the latest
colors of *buntu, but does it really have to match?

And the latest changes have IMPROVED the Forum such that it's almost
UNUSABLE. Screen Updates take anywhere from 15 to 36 seconds to download
and update. What is so GREAT about Bright Colors on Forum Pages that take
a Maximum of 36 Seconds to Update via Cable Modem?

The Screen update times are almost as bad as using Dialup. I can't imagine
trying to use the Forum if the folks are still using Dialup.

Change is good, if it helps users and grows your User Base. According
to distrowatch, and the squawking on this forum and the Internet, folks aren't
very happy with the latest changes........but Linux Mint appears
to be doing something RIGHT, since their numbers are getting larger.
I wonder if their User Base is growing?????

I couldn't really care less about the new colours of the forum, which we've now had for about a week. I quite like the look of it, personally, but it's horses for courses, and you are welcome to your own opinion.

I don't think the slowness of the forum at the moment is related to the colour itself, though it could be teething problems with the new style options, which seem to have disappeared completely from the bottom left of each page, having been there until yesterday or the day before.

I have tried searching the forum on the subject of its slow activity, but because it is so slow at the moment, searching it is totally impossible.

I'm accessing the forum from Mumbai and via the Chrome browser. I'm not seeing any slowdown right now. But there are complaints in the Cafe section about slowness and the theme change seems irrelevant since other Ubuntu sites are affected.

Yes, because Canonical have said so.

Nothing to do with the change of theme.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1977943 is where you can keep up to date regarding forum theme changes, often as they happen.

Me neither. We're "affected" because we're official. Other sites are not. If you go to the Ubuntu wiki, or the Ubuntu site, you'll find the same theme.

And is it just me that gets really annoyed when people use Mint as a threat? @OP: If Mint is better, why are you still using Ubuntu?

Yep.

I'm not sure if this should go to Recurring because it's going on about popularity by going off distrowatch, or if it should be merged with the other forums are slow thread..

Holy guacamole. Some people would complain because their water is too wet.

Reminds me of the couple that went out to eat, and subsequently complained to the restaraunt manager that the food was terrible and the portions too small.

I love the new theme! It's so orangey! And plenty fast. To me it looks "cleaner" and more like a technical forum than some of the silly kids' forums I visit. It's less like an "Ubuntu Facebook" and more like a help/tech/discussion forum for a real honest-to-goodness professionally developed computer operating system!

It's like UF "grew up" one day and the parents must be so proud!

Then kids like me come along and still want it to come outside and play, lol. But I like the new theme and the new reduced level of busyness and "noise" since I first started lurking (for about a year without joining) here.

LOL I chuckled really good when I read that..

@OP,
Forums theme doesnt have anything to do with the speed, UNLESS your running a dial up modem. AND if you are just disable images. But this theme is no more or less graphic intensive. So still your point is mute.

First time I saw the colours, I thought "Whoa, that's a bit bright". I think it still is, but it's ok.

And the pages load fast here at my side (country code 0032), and that's with ADSL.
