According this article HTML 5 / TIZEN is going to be THE next 'hype' :

As HTML 5 starts to become the foundation of everything, itís us, the user who wins. Those of us that comprise the %1 of desktops users using Linux now have the same choice on our mobiles. Many of us use Android, but there will no longer be a reason to be bound to it. We can choose to use Android, Tizen, iOS, WebOS, or whatever we want. We will have the same level of access to productivity apps, games and entertainment, as anyone else.

HTML 5 will be the technology that completely eliminates the need for an Ďecosystemí. Itís an enabler of freedom.

HTML 5 still has it's drawbacks. Native apps run alot better, so it will never completely eliminate 'ecosystems'. Tizen and BtG might be able to capture the low end market where everything is HTML 5, but there will still always be a demand for high end mobile devices which run the latest console quality games, and developers will have to choose which platforms to support out of iOS, Android, Tizen, BB10, and W8...

W8...

Metro apps use JavaScript anyway. How hard could that be? As for the end of Java? Nope, never. Minecraft still uses it, and Java 7 just released not too long ago. It's a lot better than Java 6.
