Does anyone know if it's possible to create a shortcut group in AWN? I have been using Unity but recently switched over to gnome shell and have been playing around with it. To emulate the Unity launcher I installed AWN. It mostly works great, but there is one thing that I haven't figured out yet. I had written some python scripts to stop/start Tomcat, which I put into a shortcut group in a .desktop file and dragged it over to the launcher in Unity (see screenshot). This worked flawlessly.

Anyone know if I can accomplish this same thing with AWN? I tried dragging the .desktop file over but it doesn't work. It doesn't even show the icon in AWN, though oddly enough if I go look in the dock preferences it shows that it has a launcher in there.

Ok so for anyone interested, I did find a sort-of workaround for this. Instead of using a .desktop file from the launcher (in my case AWN dock now), I enabled the following extension:

https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/37/quicklaunch/

Then I just created a new launcher from there to my start and stop scripts. So I have to click on a different area of the screen now but it is functional.

I would still like to figure this out though. Who knows what I (or something else) might use it for in the future...

And just another update, it turns out that there is an extension for gnome shell that allows the use of Unity quicklists. Hope this helps someone:
