Hi,

I installed 12.04 64-bit on a Dell Inspiron 1764 from a USB key made using usb-creator. The trackpad and USB ports work fine when booting from the USB key, and I can connect to wireless after enabling the proprietary driver.

However, when booting from the install made to the hard drive, none of the above work. The keyboard still functions, though. When I go to Additional Drivers and try to enable the USB and wireless drivers, I get an error (after the password prompt) indicating I should look in /var/logs/jockey.log (if my memory serves). The relevant messages in the log seem to be that there's something wrong with /lib/modules/3.0.23-modules/modules.deb (again, if my memory is correct). This file exists, though I haven't tried to do anything else with it.

Looking in /lib/modules when I am booted from the USB key shows there is also a 3.0.24-modules folder.

Could anyone provide some insight as to what's happening here? Should I try for a 32-bit installation, or something from 11.xx?

Thanks,
romdp
