It depends what part of the world you're in, I think. I suspect that Mothering Sunday is predominantly British - but I'm willing to stand corrected.

Anyway, I'll accept the best wishes. I'm a mother of two sons, and a grandmother since just three days ago.

And I'll offer best wishes to all the other mothers out there.

You would appear to be correct-most of the rest of the world celebrates Mother's Day, not Mothering Sunday.

Anyway, best wishes to you and all. :)

I think it's the thought that counts more than anything.

And I like to remember also those for whom Mother's Day is a sad occasion, for any number of reasons.

Happy Mothers Day to a fellow kiwi! I bet you're proud of your brood :)

I'm just down the road from you too, in Kirikiriroa.

Many thanks.

Yes, they're not a bad bunch, even if I was tearing my hair when they were in their teens. :)

I think that the one with the new baby is getting a crash course in all the wonderful things that mothers/parents have to do. And he thanked me this morning for what I'd done over the years.

I've been through Kirikiriroa a few times, about 2 hours drive from here. At least, you're close enough to the land of the JAFAs to know that we don't all have two heads. :lolflag:

Oh i lived in Aucks for 30 years before we moved down here about 10 years ago. I still really like Auckland, but the house prices and traffic drove us away. It's a truly multicultural, international city - i love that about it.

"And he thanked me this morning for what I'd done over the years." - so he's realising just how hard it is being a parent? A bit of an 'eye-opener' for him by the sounds of it :D

Both of them, I think. My daughter-in-law said to me, a few days before the birth, "I don't feel ready to be a mother."

My reply: "I don't think anyone ever does."

It's such a massive change, and we only learn by doing. I remember that all too well! Fortunately, I think the little ones are fairly resilient - we'd not have survived this long, otherwise. :)
