What are correct scanner drivers for`Brother MFC-9440CN using 12.04? My production systems are still on 11.04 LTS; using my Son's System 75 Edubook for trying out 12.04 LTS. Upgrades from 11.04 to 11.10 and 11.10 to 12.04 went fine except 12.04 came up edubuntu.

Have you tried scanning? Is the scanner attached to the Edubook?

11.04 is not an LTS.

I'm astonished that you were able to upgrade through so many versions. I would never consider doing that, I would make two backups and do a clean install.

Do you mean 10.04 LTS?

Anyway, if you download the drivers from Brother's web page, they probably work with several debian linux distros and versions. I recently made a Brother LAN printer work from 12.04 (and previously from 10.04 and Mint 9).

This problem is solved. Brother MFC-9440CN fully compatible with 12.04 LTS. See http://www.brother.com/cgi-bin/agreement/agreement.cgi?dlfile=http://www.brother.com/pub/bsc/linux/dlf/brscan3-0.2.11-4.i386.deb&lang=English_gpl; http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public_s/id/linux/en/instruction_scn1a.html; and http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public_s/id/linux/en/instruction_scn1c.html#u9.10 (covers 9.10 to 12.04). Note: Brother scanner drivers need to be reinstalled after upgrade to 12.04.
