Sound input gone after upgrade to 12.04

Hi there,

I'm using 12.04 on my Dell XPS A2420. After upgrading from 11.10 I found out that my sound input is completely gone - it's not even displayed in the settings dialogue anymore. Output works fine, that's why I didn't notice for some days.

Any ideas?

same thing happen to me, maybe someone can show us if there's already a thread about this...

i know this might sound to simple maybe it is :)

if you have a headset or microphone that is plug and play try to plug it in see if it is detected and if maybe in the process if there is a built in mic it to will be added to the list by default ..
