Ubuntu Tour

Hey all,

I'm curious to know how come there isn't a Ubuntu Tour in Ubuntu. I've seen the tour on the Ubuntu site, but why not put the tour in Ubuntu so that new users can access it and get acquainted to the Ubuntu experience?

My idea is to have a prompt giving the user a choice to take the tour now or do it later. I also find the Ubuntu online tour a bit lacking. In my opinion, it should be a little more interactive, like having the user perform some basic tasks such as installing/uninstalling a program via Ubuntu Software Center; a basic introduction to Ubuntu.

A launcher to the online Ubuntu tour sounds good as well. I'm just thinking of what if the user experiences a problem where they have no internet connection? If the Ubuntu Tour came with Ubuntu already, that possible problem would be solved.

How I came about this idea was that I was trying to teach my brother how to use Ubuntu since I've switched to Ubuntu from Windows and am now in love with it!!:D However, as a total newcomer to the world of Ubuntu, he had no idea how to start since I have my Unity Launcher on auto-hide. So I thought it would be nice to have something that gives the newcomer a tour of Ubuntu built in and from there they would begin the experience and possibly continue using Ubuntu, thus gaining another Ubuntu Linux user!

I like the idea. I think it would be better to have a 5 minute long video guide, showing basic desktop navigation, for new users who never used (anything like) Unity. Optionally, there could be another short video presenting common applications...
