Just curious. I remember all the excitement when it was announced. But I haven't heard anything about it since, or seen any Screenshots featuring razor-qt (or maybe I've missed them?). I'm going to install it on my experimental partition, just to familiarize myself with it.

Tried it out, if you are into very basic DE's then go for it. It is basically a very toned version of KDE.

Personally I prefer KDE though, doesn't that much more resources and has all the bells and whistles one could need :)

I've tested it very briefly. It's an interesting project, but it's not something that I would use on a day to day basis. This might however change in the future.

But it is also possible to strip down KDE to the bare essentials. Have a look here (http://shaforostoff.blogspot.com/2012/04/making-kubuntu-use-less-memory.html). I think there also are several threads over at http://www.kubuntuforums.net about this, probably a few here as well... It's apparently also possible to use a lightweight window manager instead of Kwin. So, you don't necessarily need Razor-Qt if you want a lightweight Qt system...

Yeah, that was my impression. Folks tried it and decided it wasn't preferable for a variety of reasons. I think I'll still install it and play with it.

I tried it for couple of days and it worked well, but I don't like lightweight DEs, so...

For those interested (which don't seem to be many). Just noticed, today, that a new Ubuntu based Distro was released that features, among it's three DEs, Razor-qt -- ExTix (http://distrowatch.com/extix). Looks like it's only for 64bit architectures.

I like the idea of a light weight DE that uses QT. The only issue I have with the project at this point is they are not working on a Window manager, they are just using Openbox (or whatever). I want to see a lightweight QT window manager. KWin is awesome, it is just overkill for a lightweight DE like this.
