I have an 80gig hard drive laying around and I was thinking of installing another linux distro. I'm running Ubuntu right now. What I'm looking for is a distro that would be easy for people with no clue about linux (sister). Thanks.

I'll say (K)(X)Ubuntu too... it comes *very* well configured and without much added configuration to do... After well... there are a lot that can be improved but it requires more work... :-)
If you want another option I'll say debian (stable of course) if you sister doesn't mind having a little older stuff because if you know ubuntu you can setup her machine easily and it's more stable and it is less likely to give you much work once it's setup...
just my 2c :-)
Hope this helps,
A.

If you go ahead with an (X/K)Ubuntu install on a second HD, I'd strongly suggest you don't add a third hard drive. You can, sure, but don't say I didn't warn ya...

yozef had a bad experience with Mepis personally. Read more here (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=174931).

I and many others have not shared that experience.

How about sun Solaris 10 for free

http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/solaris-express/get.jsp

Here is another slew of free os's for you. The only one that I know of that is no longer free is SkyOS they did at one point where you could download it for free. But they now charge $30 american I believe that will get you the final version on CD. Some of them are still active while others are no longer active. Take a look when you get a chance. I think there is BEOS as well there for download as well too.An earlier version though.
http://www.freeos.com/download.php

One more before I forget here. Found BEOS over here and I still have my active log over here. So I just copied the first part so you can go to it and download it for yourself if your interested in it. http://www.beosonline.com

Have fun.
