There are two programs i would like to see return or upgraded for the ubuntu desktop.

1. gnome-color-chooser

this program still works to a certain degree. though it doesnt seem to affect the file manager anymore.

2. gnome-art

this was a program that used to look up and download the different themes for gnome, including icons borders and controls. it is no longer in the repository.

The first program would be the best to have back as i know that themes for gnome can be installed manually to your own config file from gnome-art or gnome-look websites.

if you can think of any programs you miss feel free to post.

hope this was the right place to post this.

Mercury Messenger.
Gyachi (not sure if it's dead, but there haven't been new versions since September last year and the main developer doesn't seem to be active in the project's forum anymore).
Gnome2.

I would very VERY much just like to see XMMS version 1 updated and returned to the repos. Sadly the developers haven't maintained it in years..

Hu-Go, seriously it was the only Turbo Graphix/PC engine emulator that worked.

Nautilus audio preview, as i preview a lot of samples for creating music. I can now use gnome-sushi bit it is a lot slower and the window gets in the way sometimes when previewing too :(

Hypercard! I would love for it to return.

Oh, we're talking about Linux programs?

I'd like to see Pythoncard have some major updates. It's still in the repos but I think it doesn't work properly anymore; even if it does, it's buggy and probably won't work for too much longer given the constant pace of distros.

Great way to write programs.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to try it, but I'm not sure if it's on the Debian repositories (I'm not on my PC at the moment to check). I even downloaded Linux Mint mate edition to try it, but I've been too lazy lately. Maybe I give it a try this weekend, when I have some free time.

EDIT: I see they have a Debian repository. Nice!

I was gonna root for Chuckie Egg (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuckie_Egg), the venerable game for the ZX Spectrum (and other '80s microcomputers), nearly 30 years old. But Google Is My Friend, and she told me that there's a Flash version of the game that you can play online (http://www.repton3.co.uk/chuckieegg.aspx)! So, my wish fulfilment is complete. I am ready for my next shot at Nirvana. :D
