I'm running 12.04 with multiple DEs. I did a search and found this relevant thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1239830), but it's old. I followed the link to this page (http://osdir.com/ml/kde-bugs-dist/2009-08/msg02999.html) but I can't seem to find notifybysound.cpp to try the fix. Have things changed since then?
In the meantime I've been using sudo shutdown -r now but it's the elephant gun to my moth. I just want to be able to log out/restart/shut down the normal way.
