I must be going nuts. Installed Ubuntu 12.04, Firefox instantly upgraded to version 12; now I want to import bookmarks from my previous system.

Going to Bookmarks -> Show all bookmarks

Looking at the Library window.

Painfully trying to find a way to import bookmarks. Nothing.

Well, I thought, perhaps I am missing something. Better have a look at Firefox help documentation.

Well, here it is: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Backing-up-restoring-bookmarks

Restoring from backups:
2. In the Library window, click the Import and Backup button and then select Restore.

Huh? What Import and Backup button? Where is it? Am I going insane?

Maybe those are menu options in the top panel (global menu)?

Yes it is in the menu on the top panel, which doesn't display unless you mouse over. An example of why disappearing menu is not a good design decision. It makes this sort of thing difficult to discover such as the op has encountered.

Oh gosh, you are right! I didn't imagine the Library window will have its own global menu. Thanks a lot! You brought me back to sanity.
