I installed 12.04 on a Sony SZ Laptop with a Dual Core T9300 2.5 ghz with 3 gb memory. 32 bit version. GFORCE 8400M GTS NVIDIA is the graphics card.

My boot times is 3 minutes and 22 seconds. This seems long, at least long compared to Windows Vista which boots in about 45 seconds.

It's a lot slower than UBUNTU 10.04 I had running on the same PC.

Is this a reasonable boot time for UBUNTU 12.04 with the new features? I did a clean install for 12.04 from the CD.

I did a multiple upgrade - 10.11 to 12.04 in stages and 12.04 boots in about 70sec on an eeePC 1005HA (Atom 270 with 1G ram -pretty basic netbook). There is a delay of about 15- 20 secs due to a check on the file system on sda1. Not sure why as shutdown cleanly. Have a look as dmesg and see what happens during boot sequence. Open a terminal cntrl alt T and type dmesg and scroll to see what is taking a long time to start / initiate. Your machine has pretty good specs so should be a racehorse compared to my old plonker!
