Hi,

I am trying to install Ubuntu server 12.04 from the .iso. The install seems to be working normally until I get to the GRUB install, then I get the error:
The 'grub-pc' package failed to install into /target/. Without the GRUB boot loader, the installed system will not boot.
The computer is connected to a local network that uses a captive portal that requires a login to get to the internet. If I allow the computer through by exempting it's mac address I am able to install with no problems.

Does anyone know why this would be? Obviously it is not a huge problem now that I know how to get around it, but it does seem a bit arbitrary to get a grub error due to an internet connection issue.
