I have a Sony Vaio VGN-TX770P running Ubuntu 10.04 and Gnome 2.30.2.
Yesterday, the keyboard stopped working correctly in the main user account. Every time I press a key, I hear a "bhoink" sound, and nothing happens.
This is the case for typing in text fields, trying to use cursor or tab to move between fields or buttons.
The physical keyboard is fine; I'm typing this from another user account on the same machine, and I can type my password for that main account but just can't type after I've logged in.
This makes me think that I might have had an attack of "fat-finger syndrome" and hit some key combination that has done something weird to my gnome configuration.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
