I login to Unity and the keyring is the first thing that appears, but it looks slightly faded, which was the first thing that threw me off. So I click on the password entry field and start typing but nothing appears. I can't launch anything from the bar without getting past this first. Can anyone help? Sincerely sorry if this has already been asked.

Ok, I managed to launch Chrome without getting past the keyring, but it was....translucent.
I think that, as well as my other graphical issues and maybe even the keyring issues, stem from some compiz settings that I edited a while back and caused me to crash Unity, it was running fine though after I reinstalled it a couple of months ago.
Anyway I can go about resetting my compiz settings?

One of two things you can try. [I prefer step 2]

1) How to completely reset Keyring (http://askubuntu.com/questions/78344/how-to-completely-reset-erase-the-keyring)
2) Read this suggested method (http://davestechsupport.com/blog/2009/01/16/how-to-remove-ubuntus-password-keyring/). Browse through some of the comments.
