How can I remove Workspace Switcher Button while still having multiple workspaces?
I've tried to delete lines from /usr/share/unity-2d/shell/launcher/Launcher.qml. Also I've disabled Viewport Switcher in ccsm.

And other useless (for me) thing is "Show Desktop" item among apps in ALT+TAB application switcher.

In ccsm go to "General Properties" and then to "Desktop Size" tab.
It's the last tab on the right.
Set all values to "1".
Then close ccsm and restart your computer.
After restart you will find that the Workspace Switcher Button is disappeared.

No, just no...

How can I remove Workspace Switcher Button while still having multiple workspaces?
I use 4 workspaces horizontally arranged. Switching them off is not an option.

This works great. Any idea how to do it from a script?

I used the following script to set the number of workspaces to 1 but the switcher button is still visable.

gconftool --set /apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/hsize --type=int 1
gconftool --set /apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/vsize --type=int 1Whats wrong with the script?

Here is the script I use that seems to work.

gconftool-2 --type int --set /apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/vsize 1
gconftool-2 --type int --set /apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/hsize 1
gconftool-2 --type int --set /apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/number_of_desktops 1

Here is my method:
1. Requires compiz config with extra plugins
2. Open the main compiz window
2. Go to "Desktop"
3. Go to "Ubuntu Unity Plugin"
4. Go to "Experimental" tab
5. Scroll down and un-check "Show "Expo Icon" in the launcher"
6. That's it!
It worked for me. No need to reduce the number of your workspaces.

This option wasn't available to me.

Only 'Show "Desktop Icon" in the launcher' was. :(

I've reinstalled Ubuntu 12.04 due to some errors and the "Show "Expo Icon" in the launcher" option has disappeared.:(
The option is still available on my laptop but it's gone from the PC. I think this may be caused by some new updates or something.
Opinions? Anyone?
