I like Unity. Quite a bit actually. But I longed for Gnome. Cinnamon is feels like a hybrid of Gnome 2 and 3. I'm really liking it an awful lot!

Any others tried Cinnamon?

Never heard of that before, mind attaching a screenshot? I'm at work for the moment.

Offtopic: I love your name for some reason, it's hilarious.

There's a Cinnamon PPA for Ubuntu 12.04. A stable and unstable PPA. I'm running Cinnamon stable.

#### Cinnamon [Stable]
## sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 28949509
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/gwendal-lebihan-dev/cinnamon-stable/ubuntu precise main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/gwendal-lebihan-dev/cinnamon-stable/ubuntu precise main

Cinnamon really feels nice. Looks great as well.

...

Performance wise how well does it run? Does it cripple gaming performance any?

I've seen no performance issues at all on my box. Very clean interface. Straight-forward. Snappier than Unity for me.

Here is a YouTube video showing a bit of a walk-through of the latest Cinnamon 1.4.

What are your system specs? I tried Cinnamon some time ago and it was horrible and sluggish.

I'm running Cinnamon on LMDE and it's less sluggish than KDE4, and certainly no more or less sluggish than Unity or Gnome-shell for me.
I quite like it, it's now my preffered enviroment.

I see. Mine definitely aren't up to par with yours, but maybe I'll give Cinnamon another go (especially with new Catalyst 12.4).

It sounds like a pretty modern system to me.

I ran cinnamon on 11.10 with an atom 330 that I have set up as an htpc. I like the direction it is going but it is definitely more sluggish than gnome shell and unity.

I suspect that with an i5 you wouldn't notice much of a difference though.

The big advantage of gnome shell, gnome fallback and cinnamon is that they scale incredibly well to fit the television screen.

Don't notice much difference on an overclocked q6600 @3ghz either :)
I need to upgrade my hardware soon...stuck on 4gb max ddr2 memory on this motherboard :(
