Hi,
I am an unsophisticated user. I tried upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04 and Compiz failed. I next tried a new installation from a CD-ROM. It went well and told me everything was fine. After the reboot, I tried to sign in and it told me over and over again that I had the wrong password. I KNOW I have the right password.

I am running a HP Pavilion Laptop with an NVIDIA 6150 graphics card. I saw a post on another website with the same question.

My laptop has an AMD 64 bit chip, but I installed the 32 bit Ubuntu. Could this be a problem?

I would appreciate any help I can get. I am a long time Ubuntu user and would hate to give up on it after so many years.

It may be possible that the keyboard layout you created the password with is not the same one you are now using to try and log in...

Are you using the default US keyboard local?
