Hi,
I installed Jre 1.5. it is easy. But for some reason I need to install Sun's jdk 1.4.2
(a software dev requirement.)
Is there a way to install it on Ubuntu LTS?

I wouldn't do it myself (Sun's Java is proprietary, if at all possible, try using the GNU Java compiler instead), but I think you can get it by enabling the multiverse repository in Synaptic.

If it's not availiable in the repositories, you can always do it the old fashioned way: http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/142
Of course, you'll have to download the correct version of Java you need, and thus the commands will be a bit different concerning version numbers, but you get the idea.
