was introduced and its purpose is to "publicly recognize a distinguished and select group of visionaries, leaders and luminaries who have made significant contributions to the development and advancement of the global Internet".
Some of the inductees: Tim Berners-Lee, Paul Zimmerman, Mitchell Baker, Linus Torvalds, and Al Gore (to whoever is interested).
A lot of big names of the IT world are there (except for Zuckerberg - he may try again some time later). So comment away!

I wouldn't say Zuckerberg should be in there. Despite his success, he never really did anything particularly original. Social networking sites have existed before.

All the other entries I understand.

It may not have been original, but like it or not, he revolutionized social networking and made it work. I think he should be in there, even though I sometimes hate Facebook.

Without this man things could have been very different.

I would also like to mention Dave Cutler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Cutler) of VMS & Win NT fame.
