Hello,

I just upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04 and had several error messages during the upgrade process. Yesterday, everything had been installed. Now I get this error message below Can you help?
Thanks
David

An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:Problem parsing dependency Depends, E:Error occurred while processing libqt6-core (NewVersion2), E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise_univers e_binary-i386_Packages, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

Try the following commands:

sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
sudo apt-get update
The first one removes corrupted package lists, the second refreshes them.

Thanks.
It got rid of the error message but now there is nothing to be updated, weird, no?

Rubi1200

Give it 24 hours and then try again.

If there are still problems, let us know.

ok, thanks. Will update tomorrow

Boot this morning and no update. Is there a way to check that i have everything updated?
Also, should I maybe try to reinstall directly from a live CD instead of the upgrade to have a cleaner system?

davidafranklin

Now I am actually getting a bunch of errors, not the typical red icon on top lof the screen near the battery.
I get some error message in a specific window where I cannot even copy or send the error report. I cannot open the Update Manager. It says something like "the application Update Manager closed unexpectedly"

Any clue?

Hi davidafranklin

Can you run
sudo apt-get update in a terminal and post all the output here?

I don't think there were any updates today, so it looks like your problem is solved?

I had too many crashes. I reinstalled Lubuntu 12.04 instead, looks pretty stable.
Now trying to fix my sound issues.
Thanks

Hi!

Somehow this problem is still not solved or at least not for me. A get this kind of problem at least once every week since I have 12.04 and this almost for the whole time 12.04 was out there. Is there a more constant solution for this planned in the nearest future or I have to do this "remove list" and "update list again" over and over again?

Thanks and regards,
RBA
