Hi Folks,
I have been doing a bit of searching but unable to find it so far....does anyone know where I can get a minimal distribution of ubuntu 12.04? Perhaps it is release a few days after the main distro release?
Thanks,
Djme.

I think my answer won't correctly answer your question because you probably are looking for something like - installing minimum possible stuff in Unity and remove stuff which is not required based on your requirements (as in for what purpose you use the system) and then install it. Something like customizing. But I have an alternative answer which is this: Xubuntu and Lubuntu. These are not exactly a minimal versions of Ubuntu but they use different desktop environment that Ubuntu which are lighter on your resources. Ubuntu uses Unity, whereas Xubuntu uses Xfce and Lubuntu uses X11 Desktop Environment. I too once wanted to use minimum combination of Gnome 2 not Unity (I use 10.04) but I tried Xubuntu three months back and am very happy about it.

This really is totally unrelated to the OP's question; it's a great testimonial, but I would recommend posting such in the Testimonials & Experiences (http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=103) forum,
To the OP: The 12.04 minimal installation hasn't made an appearance yet. I imagine with a week or two it'll be available.

Perhaps this is it? Go to http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/ and look for installer-[architecture]. Click your architecture, then "current," "images," "netboot," and then look for mini.iso. If this is it, they really shouldn't be hiding it someplace obscure like this!
