Hey,
I have an ASUS E45M1-M motherboard and a 250GB SATA-disk. Is there a good Guide anythere? That Ubuntu have https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFIBooting
I think are very confusing for me, (I'm old and senil) there they mix Apple, MacOS, OS-X and other in the same guide, and there are also no time stamp, so if there may have being any changes, since for intance 11.04.

Some qustions. On the machine now I have 11.10 64-bit but I think it's BIOS-boot (Get help before from Oldfred and also when I in UEFI/BIOS look at the boot-disk, it don't have UEFI-prefix) I have seem that there are something under SATA configuration (page 2-17 §2.5.2) to chose between [IDE] and [AHCI]. It is now in [IDE]-mode. I have read that SATA [AHCI] demand UEFI and without it the disk get slower, and some other drawbacks. Now it takes a lot of time to just come to BIOS-post (several seconds).
Could it be because it use BIOS-boot instead of UEFI?
As I understand that if I want UEFI-boot
I need to make a FAT-partition with at least 100MB size.
Then I want a separate /home and swap partition and an extra partiton as spare, there I can install windows 7, If i don't get Ubuntu run very well with my AMD/ATI APU Fusion HD6320 (HD sound and video).
PS. I get the advise if I use BIOS-boot to make a Grub-partition on the disk but I did not succeded with that, and it worked anyway. That partition I made are WARNING-!-signed in Gparted.
