Several system issues after upgrading to 12.04

Hello, just upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04 (64-bit versions) but after restart, the login screen opens in low resolution version, doesn't display icons, and the mouse doesn't function. All this carries on to the desktop environment - in both GNOME Classic and Ubuntu. Is this a known issue?

I used to have this issue in past with 11.10, and only a clean install solved it.

I have that issue, too.

Thinkpad X220 here, Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit before, now 12.04. No dedicated graphics card. Any ideas?

No ideas, I've already started preparation for clean install. The 12.04 installation CD is downloading very slowly though : /
