About at what time is Ubuntu released?

PaulW2U
April 25th, 2012, 08:07 PM
A question that will be asked again and again tomorrow.

No-one knows but may be not until it's ready?

To the best of my recollection, this is indeed how it works..So sometime tomorrow somewhere you will find it ready to go.

Dang! I live in the UK that's eight hours from your Eastern Seaboard time - like its coming up to 12.55am in the UK just now, but I guess along the Eastern seboard its around 4.55pm on 25.04.2012 where you guys are. I guess I got another eight hours to wait - better go to bed and sleep the hours away with some kentucky Fried Chicken an some mud critters...:lolflag::guitar: So-Long fellas!

I'm not sure how the daily build works, but I think if nothing goes wrong and everything works out, the current daily build will be the final build.

So, if you're impatient and want to do a bit of a gamble, you can download the current ISO from:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/

Personally, I'm going to wait it out. :P

It's not 8 hours, it's a 5 hour time difference.

Likely the day after. Too many people trying to update or download will slow things down a lot.

It'll probably be some time tomorrow morning for us. One thing to keep in mind is that it can sometimes take a while for everything to propagate to all the servers around the world.

Just because a torrent file was created on the 26th doesn't mean the file it downloads was created on the 26th. You downloaded an old snapshot.

Obviously the torrent file date does not necessarily match the date of the file it references.

I guess what I want to know is, why is there an old snapshot in the 'release' directory?

Personally, I have been running Precise for months, and am fully updated - essentially running the release version. The only reason I'm "worried" (not) about this is because I'd like to help seed the torrent.

BTW, there have only been two very minor package updates since the 23rd.

Same here - at least the iso file size is different from the earlier version in releases.ubuntu.com. Won't be able to see the date/time stamp until the torrent download is done. Pretty slow right now, but it'll probably pick up as more and more seeds join the torrent-party.
