Hi all,
New to Ubuntu and the forums. I am currently running 12.04 Beta 2 on a 6 year old Fujitsu Lifebook that I "re-purposed" with Linux from Windows XP. Looking forward to the final release in a couple of days.

It runs pretty well with a 1.83 Centrino duo core and 2 GB of RAM. Seems to use quite a bit of battery though (battery is original, so I guess it is to be expected). Don't know if 3D is enabled, since I am not really that concerned about fancy 3D desktop effects.

Look at the panel on the top. If it has a shadow, then it is Unity 3D.

I really like the new features in 12.04. Hey, has anyone tried holding down Meta for 5 seconds? :p

you can also check when you log on to ubuntu. If you're using unity's login system, there should be the "Ubuntu" logo. Click on it and you should see a list. If "Ubuntu" is selected, then it should (if ubuntu does not change it based on computer specs) then you would be in unity 3d, and apparently ubuntu 12.04 has gnome pre installed.
