Black Screen on Acer 5736z After 12.04 Upgrade

I recently upgraded my laptop (Acer 5736z) from Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 and it brought a back screen upon restart after the upgrade. I tried to downgrade to 11.10 but it gave me the same headache :mad:. I've tried following the instructions from other threads but they don't seem to work. Can anyone please assist. Thanks in advance! :p

1. 12.04 is still in development and not officially released. You should not upgrade your main system to a development version. Things don't work 100% yet.

2. Did you took a look at the sticky about black screen after upgrades? This can be video driver related and there is a sticky about this situation. See if that can help.
