I'm one of the Hoary/nVidia users that got caught by the kernel update "oops!" yesterday. I must say, one of the things that impresses me most about the free and open software community (Ubuntu in particular!) is that, instead of panicking, I said "give it a day or so...". I booted back into Warty to do what I needed to do.
Today, I come home from work, fire up Hoary in recovery mode, run apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade, reboot - and problem solved.
I just don't see commercial (ahem) OSes responding that quickly.
To the Ubuntu devs, once again, "thanks, people!".
