Will the 32 bit version run on a 64 bit machine?

Short answer yes. but if you have more than 3 gigs of ram it will not address it unless you use the -pae kernel.

i believe you can run 32bit on 64bit system , the big problem comes when using newer computers that have more then 2gb of ram..

64 bit can use and handle large gobs of ram in your system 32bit is limited , this is where the biggest difference is with 32bit system you could have 12gig of ram but it can only use 2 gb of it ..

Windows will give you 3.5GB.
