What are the big differences between using Ubuntu with Cinnamon to Linuxmint? For what I known(very little)they look the same to me.

Cinnamon is guaranteed to work on Linuxmint. So far, the Cinnamon PPAs haven't always gotten along with Ubuntu. Some of that has to do with the transition to the latest version of Gnome.
