unable to install software in Ubuntu

hi folks,

i am new to ubuntu,

i have installed the ubunut 11.04

i loged in as root, while i am installing when i click on the getsoftware of ubuntu software center, loading symbol is coming and even though waiting for long time symbol exists. but no installation.

please help me

You can use the terminal to download the same repos from soft.center

sudo apt-cache search <your_program> to search for repos

sudo apt-get install <your_program> to install

Yes, that's why you should try to change mirror / server to download from (using 'software sources').

The poor thing has been upgraded (at least) from 10.10 with not-so-good results. I believe you are better off with a fresh install.
