evince sidebar min width too wide

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04, and the sidebar in evince, which holds the page thumbnails, is much too wide. There's about a half page width of whitespace on either side of each thumbnail, and I cannot resize the sidebar any smaller. Has anyone else noticed this problem in 11.10 or 12.04? Evince on Debian 6.0 lets me shrink the sidebar to the width of the thumbnails.

I have the same problem here with 12.04. I once made that panel very wide to read something, but now I cannot resize it back.

Yes, it's ludicrous.
As is the non-responsiveness here.
