Hi
are there any restrictions to move in 12.04 to lubuntu? Control center etc. are the very same as in Gnome?
I want a lightweight, fast desktop combined with cairo-dock and compiz effects but without any disadvantages compared to Gnome.
Thanks for the info
Michael

What would you keep from LXDE, if you replace OpenBox and the Panel, there isn't much left.

Look into setting compiz as a standalone manager. I had a setup like this with Compiz, AWN and several light apps (mostly xfce, but you can go for lxde).
