I just have a question; http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/doom/#head-0811a241d1471afb34fa33b8134bee3436824246 says that you only need 256 megs of ram, and a 1.0 ghz processor to run well. Can anyone vouch for this? I have a 1.3 ghz pc with 256 megs of ram and an nvidia fx 5700LE and was wondering if this would possibly play on my machine. I'm just looking for it to run, cause it wont in windows, 30 fps at lowest settings is fine.

You really can not.
It can open yes, you cant play it decently.

Doom puts a 2.4ghz P4 512mb 128gforce to scream in pain [though it runs].

it runs on my :
p4 2.8 ghz,geforce 3, 1024 mb ram

I have only played it in windows XP. It plays nicely but the video settings are almost the lowest possible... so a faster videocard is very nice.

alright, i had some time and i installed it for the hell of it.

it runs at a playable speed for me! on all of the lowest settings, it gets about like 25 indoors and stutters, but 40 - 60 outdoors. Im gonna tweak it so it'll run better, though.

It's possible if you aren't fussy with graphics like I am.

I have it running(well kinda) on a p3 600mhz 256 ram gefore4 mx440 with a huge 5-12 or so fps on all low settings windowed.
That machine should run it, i think...

1.6ghz is a very capable machine comparing it with Pentium IV's absurd big ghz numbers.

I believe its about 2200 or 2400?
