I just installed Ububtu 11.10
When the login screen comes up, I can only log in as guest. When I try my login the screen goes blank for a moment and the login screen returns.
If I do Ctr-Alt-1 I can log in in terminal mode.
System notes:
I put my former SATA hard drive in new computer which has WindowsXP installed. I created a new partition for Ubuntu on the primary drive, and set my former home partition on the old drive as the home directory.
