I'm planning on installing something like Ubuntu Server to use as a media server on my home network. All I want is a base system with just a few
apps installed instead of something like Windows that comes with all of the bells and whistles that I won't need for my purposes.
What I need to know is which partition will all of my apps be installed on so I can make it large enough. Here is the layout I'm thinking of right now:
/boot - 100 MB
/ - ?
/home - ?
swap - 10 GB
Total = 20 GB
Is it one of these partitions, or am I missing one?
These partitions are only on the HD that I plan on using for my operating system. They do not include the partitions that I will create on my 3 larger
HD's that I plan on using for media storage.
As I said earlier, I won't be installing a whole lot of apps (only ones I'll need such as Webmin, MediaTomb, MythTV, etc.) but I want to be sure I have
enough room for them. Which partition will these type of applications be installed on?
