I'm asking for anyone who is interested to help me out with a checklist fo how to prepare for a fresh install of 12.04.
My personal situation is that I am dual booting 10.10 and Win7.
But my fantasy is for a guide aimed at the simplest and least educated of novices of what to do and what not to do when installing 12.04 alongside an existing installation or in place of existing installation whilst preserving data and settings as best possible.
Note: Just saying tar everything in the home folder is not what I'm asking.

Step 1: Archive everything in the home folder into a tar archive (just getting it out of the way. ;) )
